Support to live independently
Our floating support provides housing-related support to vulnerable people and their children to enable them to maintain their independence in their own home.
Floating support services will in general be medium-term to long-term (less than 2 years) and have the flexibility to support any person residing in the Bradford district. Floating support is distinct from accommodation-based services, where support is tied to particular accommodation.
This kind of support service supports the individual to become more independent, and often it means that they can continue to live independently at home which, without support, would be difficult.
Housing-related support includes:
- Setting up and maintaining a home or tenancy
- Help to make sure the service user’s accommodation is safe and secure
- Managing finances and benefit claims
- Developing independent living skills
- Gaining access to other services
The floating support service may provide additional support, which includes writing support letters to housing providers and immigration services. Furthermore, we continue to encourage and support our service users to access training and employment opportunities, empowering them to resettle into the community.
